Amsterdam, June 19, 2025 - Widely recognized for their fusion of traditional Middle Eastern sounds and modern club music, Shkoon unveils ‘Greater Than One’ (Remixes), a bold new remix EP that expands the emotional landscape of their original release. Revisiting the themes of resilience, reflection and shared humanity, the project brings together a global cast of producers including AWEN, Imad and Nandu, each offering a distinct reinterpretation that bridges cultures, genres and perspectives. Set for release via MDLBEAST Records, the remixes continue Shkoon’s journey as genre-bending storytellers, transcending borders and inviting listeners into new spaces of connection and discovery.
Opening the remix EP, emerging deep house talent AWEN reimagines ‘Mili’ with a bold, emotionally charged interpretation that blends deep house, progressive, and underground textures. Atmospheric synths swirl around the original’s flowing piano riffs, while driving basslines and immersive beats infuse the tender love song with both intimacy and dancefloor energy. Imad, the Lebanese-born, Nigerian-raised producer, follows with a vibrant Afrohouse retelling of ‘Souf’, where pulsating rhythms meet traditional Middle Eastern melodies in a seamless cultural dialogue. With each layer, Imad’s roots shine through, crafting a dynamic soundscape that honors Shkoon’s ‘Sufi’-inspired essence while introducing a fresh rhythmic vitality. Closing the release, Danish producer Nandu delivers an intricate Oriental house twist on ‘Jadal’, balancing uptempo percussion with rich Middle Eastern instrumentation. The timeless textures of oud and violin dance alongside modern electronic elements, evolving the original’s meditative tension into a captivating, floor-filling crescendo. Together, the remixes breathe new life into ‘Greater Than One’, expanding its emotional and cultural resonance across new sonic landscapes.
Since first stepping onto the global stage, Shkoon has shaped a singular voice within electronic music, blending Syrian traditional folklore with deep house, dub, downbeat and hip-hop to create a sound that defies genre and connects cultures. Their immersive performances and boundary-crossing productions have resonated with audiences across Europe, the Middle East and beyond, uniting listeners through shared emotion and cultural dialogue. With ‘Greater Than One’ (Remixes), Shkoon continues to evolve while remaining anchored in their core belief that music holds the power to transcend borders, inspire connection and carry stories across generations.
Once again, Shkoon invites listeners into a space where tradition meets innovation, and where stories are told not just through lyrics, but through rhythm, melody, and shared experience.

ABOUT Shkoon
Shkoon are Syrian/German duo who blend traditional Syrian folklore with downtempo electronica. They're the posterboys for the electronic scene in MENA (everyone knows them here) and equally sell-out shows in London, Paris and Germany. Quite unique. Gorgeous music aside, the story of how Ameen and Thorben met really peaks media interest. Ameen (Syrian) was an activist against the Syrian government, at his university. He was unfortunately put in prison for a month then once released, decided he had to leave Syria as it wasn't safe for him. He eventually arrived in Europe on a refugee boat and made his way to Germany. Thorben was living in a house-share at the time and decided to help Ameen until he found his feet. One night they started jamming and Shkoon was formed. Given what's happening in Syria right now (Assad's regime is now removed) this project is more relevant than ever. To this day, due to Ameen's 'refugee' status, he is still blacklisted in many countries
